Jerry Arthur Floyd, age 78, of Albertville, Alabama, passed on February 13, 2024. Born on May 18, 1945, to the late Grover and Mary Iris Floyd, Jerry’s life was marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his community.
Jerry attended Albertville High School, where he left an indelible mark as a trombone player in the marching band. For an impressive 39 years, Jerry devoted his time and energy as a steadfast employee of Paul Smith Chevrolet. During his leisure hours spent at the Waffle House, you could find him sharing laughter, stories, and a passion for trading knives with friends old and new. Jerry’s passion for life extended to the realm of sports, particularly as an avid Alabama Football fan. A lifelong member of Fairview Methodist Church, Jerry found solace and strength in his faith.
Jerry is survived by his loving sister, Sara Gallaway, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever cherish the memories of their dear uncle. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Sue, Jeanine, and Gail, and his brother, Jimmy.
A funeral service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. Bro. Jerry McCright, Tony Mabrey, and Bro. Shannon McCauley will officiate the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 pm on Thursday.
Pallbearers, including Tony Mabrey, Sam Floyd, Mitch Floyd, Barry Holcomb, Brad Bearden, and Danny Love, will assist Jerry to his final resting place at Eason-Johnson Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers include the men from Fairview Methodist Church, all former employees of Paul Smith Chevrolet, and the cherished members of the Waffle House gang.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Fairview Methodist Church, 245 Laura Ave. Boaz, Alabama 35957 or Shepherds Cove Hospice, 408 Martling Road, Albertville, Alabama 35950.
