Jerry Horton Profile Photo Jerry Alvin Horton was born on August 3, 1943, in Collinwood, Tennessee, the son of the late Claude Frazier and Eva Dee Dixon Horton. On June 8, 1963, he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Dodd, who survives.

Jerry worked at Reynolds – Alloys warehouse manufacturing and Wayne County School Board. He was a member of the Emergency Board, Teamsters Local 402, and Shawnettee Church. Jerry loved hunting, fishing, and Tennessee sports, especially Tennessee football.

Jerry departed this life on March 30, 2023, at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 27 days.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Horton; son, Philip (Amy) Horton; daughter-in-law Beth Horton; and grandchildren, Luke Horton and Ivy Horton.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one son, Darell Horton; brother, Harold Horton and his wife Guinda; and niece, Dawanda Horton.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, Tennessee, as well as Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at Shawnettee Church in Collinwood, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 2 , 2023 at 2:00 PM at Shawnettee Church in Collinwood, Tennessee, with John Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Shawnettee Cemetery in Collinwood, Tennessee, with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.

 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Kidney Foundation.
