Jerry Allen Uzzell, 82, resident of Culleoka, and retired employee of Lewis County Middle School, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024 at NHC Columbia.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Casey Derryberry officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Born on June 2, 1941, in Maury County, he was the son of the late Felix Francis Uzzell and the late Gladys Moser Uzzell. On November 4 1961, Jerry married Sandra Ann Hanvy, and they had forty-eight wonderful years together until her passing in 2009. Mr. Uzzell worked for Victory Van Lines, The Civil Defense, and Genesco Inc., and then worked for Heil Quaker until his retirement when they closed in 2001. After his retirement, Jerry worked for the Lewis County Middle School. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his Daughters, Laquita Sue (Tim) Dunkle, and Melissa Kay (Kenn) Miller; grandchildren, A.J. Dunkle, Timothy Shane Uzzell, Ami Cooper, DeWayne (Ashley) Cooper; great grandchildren, Jerrie-Ann Cooper, Alanna Gilbert, Abigail Gilbert, Ali Wolven, Jalea Cooper, Piper Jo Cooper, Gracelyn Jay Dunkle; sisters, Mary Frances Neese, Iris Howell, Nancy Stewmon; brother, Frank Uzzell; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Uzzell; and a nephew, Randy Uzzell.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Carter, David Pullen, Joey Uzzell, Jeff Uzzell, Tommy Uzzell, Timothy Uzzell, DeWayne Cooper, Jon Dickey, and Jack Gilbert. Honorary Pallbearers include Pete Parks, Tony White, Jerry Vaughn, and the Line Truckers from Heil Quaker.
