Funeral Services for Mr. Jerome B. Sims age 84, of Trussville, will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Delta Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Delta Community Cemetery.
Mr. Sims passed peacefully at his home in Trussville Alabama on March 24, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Jerome was born and raised in Delta Alabama, attended school at Jacksonville State and soon after moved to Birmingham, eventually finding his final home in Trussville. He was a caring Christian man, who never hesitated to help those around him and a member at the Church at Ross Bridge. Jerome found his vocational calling as a State Farm insurance agent and delighted in helping others in the industry for over 57 years, but his real passion was family and of course Alabama football.
He was preceded in death by his father Hartford C. Sims “Pop”, his mother Ester Mae Sims “Grandmother” and his daughter Mary Janette Sims “Jenny”.
He is survived by his wife Mary Helen Sims, his brother Frank Sims (Nell) of Delta, AL. , sons Lane Sims (Mandi) of Cummings, GA., Jon Sims (Ginger) Trussville AL. and Dane Sims of Moody Al., Grandchildren Michael Norton Jr. of Ranburne Al., as well as David Sims, Abby Sims, Natalie Newton and Hailey Newton, Great grandchildren Michael Norton III and Emma Eason (Micah) of Birmingham, Al., and a niece and nephew that were like his own children Beverly Sims and Jim Sims (Susie).

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Monday March 27, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. and until one hour prior to services on Tuesday. He will lie in state at the church for one hour.
