Jerold Dean Blaxton Jerold Dean Blaxton, 82 of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at North Alabama Medical Center. Mr. Blaxton was born May 29, 1938 to William and Lucy McCarty Blaxton.

He is survived by his daughters, Deana Marie Coats (Chris); grandchildren, Jessica Sims, Christopher Rouse, Kristen Coats and Kaylee Coats; great grandchildren, Ethan Garrison, Dakoda Rouse, Chyenne Rouse, Taylor Rouse, Anaiah Rouse and Alexander Young; sister, Jean McKelvey.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan Blaxton; daughter, Angela Rouse; brother, Jay Blaxton; grandchild, Jeffery Rouse.

Mr. Blaxton graduated from the University of Alabama Police Academy in 1993 and served as an Athens City Police Reserve Officer for over 20 years. He enjoyed Alabama Football, Braves Baseball and woodworking. He was a supporter of Athens High School Athletics. He was involved with Athens Limestone Rescue Squad, Athens EMA (A.L.E.R.T.) and a member of the Zoning Board and planning commission and the Lions Club. He worked at Teledyne Brown for 30 years.

Funeral services for Mr. Blaxton will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Lindsay Lane Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Dusty McLemore officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Chris Coats, Chris Rouse, Brandon Hargrove, Henry Lindsey, Roger Crafts and Larry Caddy.
