Jerald Eugene JeffreysJerald Eugene Jeffreys, 83, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.  He was born April 17, 1941, in Colbert County, Alabama, to Elijah Austin and Lillie S. Graves Jeffreys.  Jerald worked as an iron worker in the construction industry for most of his career.  He worked 25 years for the Carpenters’ Local in Tuscumbia, Alabama, and then worked over 12 years in business with his son.  Having lost his eyesight at the age of 62, Jerald spent the remainder of his years with stout determination and a zest for life.  He was member of the Fulton Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  He enjoyed spending time in his shop, tending to his immaculate garden, and sharing the fruits of his labor with fresh flower bouquets for others.

The Jeffreys family will celebrate their beloved father’s life in a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1405 S. Tennessee Street, Hwy. 72 West, Tuscumbia, Alabama  35674.  Bro. Brad Simpson will be officiating.  Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service.  McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald “Jeff” Jeffreys, Jr. (Lisa) of Athens, Alabama, Bryan Jeffreys (Lisa) of Henderson, Tennessee, and Brad Jeffreys (Angela) of Regan, Tennessee; three daughters, Kim Jeffreys of Tishomingo, Alicia Hester of Iuka, and Kayla Williams (Matt) of Mantachie; one brother, James Jeffreys of Springtown, Texas; one sister, Edith Jezek of Sheffield, Alabama; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Martha Jeffreys, in 2018; one granddaughter, Kathryn Jeffreys; a son-in-law, Lynn Hester; his parents; eight brothers and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
