Jennifer Joy Anders, 50, of Birmingham, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024. Born on March 21, 1974, she was a native of Hartselle, AL, grew up in Florence, and graduated from Bradshaw High School in 1992.
Jennifer attended the University of Alabama and graduated with honors in May 1996 with a degree in finance and a minor in computer science. She worked as a business analyst after college, and after years in the field, changed careers to focus on caring for others as a home healthcare worker. She had a creative spirit, and spent time drawing cartoon characters and later, painting. She was also an animal lover and a talented musician who played piano, guitar, mandolin and violin.
Jennifer is survived by her parents, Larry and Nancy Anders, sister, Stephanie Anders (Carlos Salazar) and brother, Corey Anders; aunts and uncles Joe and Joy Groover, Theron and B.B. Anders, and Ferrell and Pauline Anders; cousins Mike Groover (Sonya), Suzanne Groover, Laura Anders Lee (Bryan), Will Anders (Robin), Zeke Anders (Larysse) and Kelilah Anders Johnson (Matt); stepsisters Melissa Atterberry (Will) and Laura Kruck (Mark); special friends Angelynn Edwards, Erin Marsh, and Craig Phillips; her cat Linus, and many friends and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxye Gibson Anders; maternal grandparents, Ila Moore Gibson and William “Buck” Gibson; paternal grandparents, Doris Anders Herring and William Minter Anders; and her beloved canine companion Maggie.
A celebration of her life will be held on May 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Sheffield Methodist Church, 701 N Montgomery Ave in Sheffield. Final arrangements were made by Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle.
A private interment will be held later at Hartselle City Cemetery.
