Jennifer “Jenny” Behel Thigpen

Jennifer “Jenny” Behel Thigpen, was born on March 18, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois and departed from this earth on July 4, 2023 in Florence, AL. She is survived by her devoted husband, Randy K. Thigpen, son Brian Behel(Cammie), grandson Calvin Behel, five bonus children, Brandon Thigpen, Austin Thigpen, Jonathan “Rhett” Thigpen, Bradley Thigpen, Heather Thigpen, her sister Denise Holt(Mark) two nieces, Angela Taylor(Daniel), Sabrina Smith(Christopher), great-niece Madison Taylor, great-nephew Drew Taylor, her life long best friend Charlotte Christian, as well as many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Sandra Faye Holt and father Stanley Blake Holt.

 

Jenny was a graduate of Deshler High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Athens State University and received her Juris Doctorate from Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in 1999. She was an accomplished and respected attorney in North Alabama. Mrs. Thigpen served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Michael T. Jones of the Lauderdale County Circuit Court and is a past recipient of the “Favorite Lawyer In The Shoals” award by the local newspaper. She was a past member of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and has served as a volunteer at the local domestic violence shelter, Safeplace. She focused her practice of law in the areas of family law, domestic law, criminal law and juvenile law. Jenny was loved by her work family at Thigpen, Thigpen, Engelthaler & Scott, Inc. as well as her many clients. Jenny enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandson, cheering on the Crimson Tide, spending time on the water, and traveling. Jenny will be remembered for the many acts of love and kindness she gave to others throughout the years.

Visitation will be conducted at Woodmont Baptist Church in Florence, Alabama on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 1pm. A celebration of life service will follow at 2pm with Rev. Chad Hess and Rev. Jackie Kay providing the eulogies. Interment will follow at Greenview Memorial Park in Florence, Alabama.
