On Thursday, November 10, Jeffrey Plummer Welsh was called home at the age of 68. We have lost a great husband, brother, stepfather, and friend.
Jeffrey Plummer Welsh was born on November 3, 1954 to Walter William and Catharine Welsh affectionately remembered as ‘Wonderful Walter and ‘Catharine the Great’. He was the beloved youngest of four siblings and grew up in Oakland, California.
As a boy he loved to swim, and he loved the ocean. His siblings remember him as a cherished pesty little brother.
Jeff joined the United States Navy as a teenager where he learned electronics as a trade. This likely began his skill and love of all things technical. After he left the service, Jeff attended the University of California at Berkely and became an exchange student at the University of Paris, France. He became and remained fluent in French. When he returned to the US, Jeff found employment as a sound technician for a northern California company where he worked with notable R&B artists.
He met the love of his life, Janice Graham in California. They were married on October 18, 1986, and recently celebrated thirty-six years of marriage.
Jeff was employed as an executive for the Dell Corporation from 1997 to 2012. He later went on to head technical support for Hartung Brothers Inc, an agricultural Company in Hawaii. His technical advice, expertise and skilled hands were highly prized by his family and friends. He was always willing to fix a PC or advise on new purchases.
When he was not traveling for his job, Jeff enjoyed and was a competitive runner. He participated in more than 50 marathons, half marathons, and 10K races in California and Hawaii. In 2013 Jeff and his wife Janice were born again. As a symbol of their faith, they were baptized in the Pacific Ocean off the Island of Kauai, Hawaii. They were active in church life and generously contributed their time and spiritual gifts. Jeff retired in 2019 and moved with his wife to Murfreesboro TN. He succumbed to a long illness and made his transition on November 10, 2022.
He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife, Janice Graham Welsh; siblings, Penny Welsh Samuelson, Pamela Welsh Jernberg; William Gardner Welsh; nephew, Chad Jernberg (Ria), stepdaughter Renee Holmes (Kenneth), step-grandchildren Michael and Kenneth II along with extended family. He was preceded in death by his Nephew Erik Jernberg.
Jeff demonstrated his love for his family, his love of life and his love of God in everything he did.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 12:00-2:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM.
