Jeffery Joseph O’Brien (Jeff), 54, a resident of Sheffield AL, passed away on August 13, 2012 at E.C.M. Hospital, Florence AL after a brief illness. Jeff was born on September 2, 1957 in Mobile, Al where he spent his childhood and graduated from McGill-Toolen High School in 1975. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He moved to the Shoals area in 1986.

He is survived by his beloved wife Millie “Susie” O’Brien.
Daughter, Beth Morris and two grandsons, Jeffery Andrew Morris and Robert Zachary Morris all of Tuscumbia.

He is also survived by his mother, Mary Jane O’Brien.
Four sisters; Teresa Carol O’Brien, Kelly O’Brien Poole (Brian), Stephanie Ellis (Keith), Susan Sedig; and four brothers; Joseph W. O’Brien Jr. (Tracy), John D. O’Brien, Jason L. O’Brien and James L. O’Brien (Elizabeth), and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph William O’Brien Sr., son, James “Jake O’Brien” Blackstock, and grandparents, John R. Robertson and Mary Frances O’Brien Robertson.

Pallbearers are Joey, Jackie, Jason and Jimmy O’Brien, Taylor Reynolds and Wayne Allen

Jeff was an active member of Leighton Baptist Church, where he was a faithful choir member and narrator. As a member of the Faithful Men Music Group, he enjoyed bringing joy to people through his songs. He was also a member of the Leighton Baptist Relay For Life Team.

Visitation will be Wednesday August 15, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday August 16, at Leighton Baptist Church. The body will lie in state in the church one hour prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Leighton Baptist Church Choir and Leighton Baptist Honduras Missionary Team 2630 College St., Leighton, AL 35646.
