Funeral services for Mrs. Jeanne Sweeney Mills, age 95, of Fayetteville, TN will be held at 2pm on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 12pm until 2pm on Saturday at Higgins.

Mrs. Mills was born August 11, 1928, to the late James Roy and Odelle Wolaver Sweeney. She worked for Serbin Fashions, Inc. in Fayetteville for over 25 years and in 1980 she became the vice president and chief operations officer in Fayetteville. Mrs. Mills had an exemplary career and led the company with to her willingness to work hard and her sound business abilities. Her intelligence, independence and resilient nature were shown not only in her work life, but in her personal life as well. Even at the age of 95 she lived in her own home and took care of herself until just recently. Mrs. Mills also had a servant’s heart and she cared deeply for her family and others. She was a member of Fayetteville Church of God and studied her Bible daily, doing her best to live her life for the Lord. Mrs. Mills passed away February 5, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital with her family by her side.

Survivors include her son, Benny Mills and wife Lori of Smyrna; grandchildren, Ben Mills III and wife Stacia, Callie Mills, Cade Mills and wife Anna; great-grandchildren, Hazel Mills and Jack Mills; dear niece and nephew who were more like children, Pam Corder and husband Jimmy, and Danny Shelton and wife Kim. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Douglas Mills, Sr.; and sisters, Thelma Monks, and Dean Shelton.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
