Ms. Jeanette Swinford, 78, of Hazel Green, passed away on Monday.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a dedicated Christian and was a member of Charity Baptist Church. She worked at Hazel Green Elementary School where she was a custodian for several years and had been a Hazel Green resident since 1966.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Everett and by her parents, Horace & Mildred Cothren; Her three sisters: Juanita Cothren, Ruth Hicks, Lila Faye Caldwell; Her grandson, Dakota Hargrove.
Surviving family members include her daughters: Melody Swinford and Joanie (Russell) Welch; Her grandchildren: Beverly Welch, Stephanie (Ed) Verville, Natosha (Stan) White, Alice Welch, Joshua Gibbs; Her great-grandchildren: Zoie, Matthew, Aydan, and Arabella; Her brothers: Johnny, Frankie, James, and David Cothren; Her sisters: Yvonne Hicks, Sarah Price, Linda Riddle, and Nancy Bankston.
There will be a graveside service on Friday at Noon at New Sharon Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family invites everyone who wishes to attend but Alabama law requires everyone to remain in their cars during the service. The service will be broadcast via FM Radio so that guests may listen while they remain in their cars.
