Jean Marie Hillis Lovelace, age 93, going on 39 of Florence, met Jesus on October 21, 2024. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd, at 11:00 am Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery to honor her life.
Affectionately known as “Granny,” Jean was a true Southern Christian lady. Her love was felt through the Sunday lunches she prepared for her family and the way she made every birthday special. Although soft spoken, when Granny spoke, everyone listened. Our lives will never be the same without her earthly presence.
Jean was a devoted member of Underwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Talma Hillis, her sister, June Pate (Doc), and her brother, G.W. Hillis (Carolyn).
She is survived by her beloved husband of 73 years, Ed Lovelace; her daughter, Gail Mills (Bo); her sons, Eddie Lovelace (Jackie) and Bill Lovelace (Traci); and her cherished granddaughters, Kristie Moss (Dereke), Katie Faires (Justin), and Kayla Bullock (James). Her ultimate joy in life was watching her seven great-grandchildren—Riley, Bryce, and Brynn Moss; Max, Luke, and Levi Bullock; and Jackson Faires. She also leaves behind loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jean’s caregivers—Bonnie, her niece Janie, Jeanine, Brenda, and the team at Amedisys Home health and Hospice.
Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family. Donations may be made in Jean’s memory to Underwood Baptist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
