Jean Henken Kennedy “Jeanie”, 72, died Friday, October 1, 2021, at her home in Huntsville. The funeral will be held Monday, October 4, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Huntsville with Father Joe Labrano. There will be a viewing before starting at 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Jean was born on July 28, 1949 in Mobile, Alabama to Ted and Margret Henken. After graduating from St. Scholastica Academy in Covington, LA in 1967, she went on to study education at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. In 2002 she earned her education specialist degree from the University of Alabama.
Jean was a teacher and retired from Huntsville City Schools in 2008. She taught at West Mastin Lake Elementary and Farley Elementary. Before her time with Huntsville City Schools, she taught at Holy Family Catholic School for 8 years, where she served on the school board. She was also a member of the Church of the Visitation Choir.
Survivors include her husband, Claude Kennedy; three children, Thomas Kennedy, Theresa McDade and Michael Kennedy. She had 2 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Holy Family Regional School Capital Campaign.
