Funeral services for Mrs. Jean D. Jordan, 89 of Cragford will be held Tuesday September 11, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Mellow Valley Baptist Church with Rev. James Owens and Rev. Tim Tipton officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Jordan passed away Saturday September 8, 2018 at the Clay County Nursing Home. She was born in Tallapoosa County but had lived most of her life in Clay County, had worked for over 37 years at Higgins Manufacturing and was a long time member of the Mellow Valley Baptist Church. Mrs. Jordan loved to garden and to work in the yard. She loved flowers, and most importantly, her grandchildren. She also loved to sit with others and help those in need.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by two sons; Joe Jordan and his wife Vera, Emil Jordan and his wife Debra all of Cragford along with six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Looney Daugherty and Zillie Wood Daugherty, husband of 36 years Foy Jordan, one grandson Andy Jordan, and several brothers and sisters.
Active pallbearers will be: Chad Jordan, Brad Jordan, Michael Jordan, Wesley Jordan, Saylor Jordan, and Jamie Walker.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Clay County Nursing Home.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Monday September 10, 2018 from 5:30 to 8:00, and until one hour prior to service time. She will lie in state at the church from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.
