Jay Lee Pennington, age 82, of Vernon, AL, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Generations of Vernon Nursing Home in Vernon, AL. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 1:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Prospect Cemetery in Sulligent, AL. Bro. Doug Wharton to officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Jay was born on October 28, 1941 in Monroe County, MS to the late Earmine Pennington and the late Cora Lee Pennington. He attended Lamar County High School. Jay retired from Georgia Pacific after working over 20 plus years of dedicated service. He enjoyed woodworking and being outside doing yardwork. He loved his family dearly and treasured spending time with his grandbabies. His precious memory will always be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Jay was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
