Jason Eugene Flynn – Obituary

Jason Eugene Flynn, 40, of Florence, AL passed away on October 18, 2016.

The Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 410 N. Pine Street, Florence, AL on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held immediately following the service, and a private inurnment for the family will follow.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Greenview Funeral Home, 3657 Old Chisholm Road, Florence, AL.

Jason was born in Fayetteville, NC on September 1, 1976. He graduated from Dutch Fork High School and continued on to receive a BS degree from James Madison University and MFA from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro.

Jason worked as an Associate Professor of Film & Digital Media Productions in the Communications Department at the University of North Alabama. He started the department in August 2008 with just a vision about what could be and was able and proud of how the department has thrived and grown over the years. He loved teaching and investing in students and the university.

Jason is survived by Laura Heckert, sons Liam, Owen and Wyatt Flynn, parents Ronald and Hattie Hamrick Flynn, sister Valerie Flynn Co, Adam and their children – Zaden, Ariel and Phoenix. He had many other family members and friends that it would be hard to list them all.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather JW Hamrick and Ralph F. and Kathleen Cook Flynn.

Jason will be remembered as someone who loved his family and especially his sons, Liam, Owen and Wyatt. He accepted Jesus as his Savior as a young boy and he is with Him now and forever, Jason will be greatly missed and we will always celebrate his life until we see him again in Heaven.
