Jannie Bernice Harrison Swanner, 91 of Athens, passed away on December 11th, 2023, at her residence. Mrs. Swanner was born on July 12th, 1932, in Moulton, Alabama, to John L. Flatt and Monie Lillian Bobo Flatt.
Mrs. Swanner is survived by her daughter Shirley Juanita McDuffie (Jerry), of Athens; grandson Robin C Fowler (Renea), of Cleveland, GA; great grandchildren Jake, Kayla, Carrie, James, and Chris; 6 great-great-grandchildren; late husband Buford Swanner’s family – children Mary Jewell (Morris), Janice Jewell (Don), Curtis Swanner (Brenda), Randall Swanner (Debbie), and Anthony Swanner (Rhonda); 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents John & Lillian Flatt; husbands Louie C. Harrison, of 43 years, and husband Buford Swanner, of 17 years; son Ronald Harrison; daughter-in-law Marie A. Harrison; grandson Samuel W. Fowler and Marty L. Harrison; great-great-grandson Waylon K. Bryan’ brother Melvin Flatt; sister Geneva Chance; brother-in-law Kenneth Chance; 1 step-grandson; 1 step-great-grandson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Swanner will be Saturday, December 16th, 2023, at 11:00am at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with C.W. Kennedy officiating. Visitation will be Friday, dec. 15th, from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robin Fowler, Jesse Bryan, James Harrison, Ricky Hicks, Chris Harrison.
