Jann Ellis Thomas passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Decatur Alabama on September 2, 2023, at the age of 66 after an extended illness.
Jann was born on September 16, 1956. Jann attended Austin High School and she graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa as a Criminal Science Major and worked as a juvenile probation officer before a twenty-five-year career in law. Jann devoted her time to charitable causes and has served as President of the CCW at the Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church.
Jann was an avid painter and flower gardener. She loved Panama City Beach, music, Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball and adored her three grandchildren.
Jann was proceeded in death by her mother Kittye Ellis. She is survived by her husband Paul Thomas of Decatur, Alabama, daughter Jessica Cary (Rich) of Decatur Alabama, son Ellis Thomas (Ellen) of Mableton, Georgia, sister Julie Ellis (Pamela) of Bradenton, Florida, brother John Ellis (Wendy) of Mount Jackson, Virginia, her father John Ray Ellis of Nashville, Tennessee, and three grandchildren Avery, Jaxon, and Rylee Kate Cary.
Funeral Mass will be at 12 PM on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church in Decatur, Alabama with interment immediately following. A reception will follow in the church hall. The Thomas family will receive friends prior to the funeral Mass from 11 AM to 12 PM.
