 Janis Louise Rowden Templin, 76, of Jacksonville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 22, 2024. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 26, 2024, at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm.

Jan was born November 3, 1947, in Decatur, Alabama. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1965. She continued her education at Florence State University and graduated with a degree in education in 1969.

She married her husband, Bob Templin, on August 31, 1968. She was a devoted wife for 55 years. The early years of their marriage was spent at Fort Knox, Kentucky. They moved to Albany, Georgia in 1972 where they would spend the next 37 years. While in Albany, Jan taught elementary school at Lincoln Heights Elementary School, South Georgia Christian Academy, and Morningside Elementary School.

Jan was a true servant to all who knew her. She served those in her family, her church family, as well as those in her work family. A precious soul who loved everyone unconditionally, she was a hostess and provider, always making sure everyone had what they needed. She is known affectionately as Nana to her family. In becoming Nana, she found her true purpose in loving, caring, and spoiling her grandchildren. In addition to her tender heart, she was also known for her baked beans, brownies, and sloppy joes. No one else’s tasted just like Nana’s. All who knew her loved her.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Ruth Rowden. She is survived by her husband, Bob Templin of Jacksonville, Alabama, her son, Bobby (Heather) Templin of Troy, Alabama, her daughter, Susan (Kevin) Briley of Jacksonville, Alabama; grandchildren, Zachary Briley, Marissa Briley, Will Templin, and Wes Templin; brothers, Bailey Rowden, Frank (Vickie) Rowden, Steve Rowden, Bill (Katherine) Rowden; niece, Jennifer (Steven Tarter) Earls; nephew, Jeff Rowden; great-nieces, Lou Ellen Earls, Neeley Rowden.

The family wishes to thank Kristy Cone for her years of serving, caring for, and loving Jan. The family is also thankful to SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice for their kindness and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Christian Student Center, Troy University, 701 John M. Long Avenue, Troy, Alabama 36081.
