 On Sunday, July 30, 2023, our beloved “Grammy”, Janie Smith Wilbanks, passed away peacefully at the Mississippi Care Center in Corinth. Funeral Services remembering the life of Ms. Wilbanks will be at 1 PM Thursday, August 3 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. David Shepherd officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM Wednesday, August 2 and will continue Thursday, August 3 from 9 AM until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in County Line Cemetery near Walnut.

Ms. Wilbanks was born April 11, 1944 in Tippah County, the daughter of the late Ferman Clarence and Edna Earl Davis Smith. She attended the Walnut Public School System, was employed in the manufacturing industry in Tippah and Alcorn counties and was a well known substitute teacher for the North Tippah School District.  A lifelong resident of Tippah County and member of County Line Baptist Church, Ms. Wilbanks loved her church, church family and was active in all church activities as long as her health permitted. She loved her family and especially adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite pastime included watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “Gunsmoke”.

Her memories will continue to be shared by four grandchildren, Searra Wilbanks (T.J. Strickland). Logan Wilbanks, James “D.J.” Wilbanks and Kriston White (Randy), one sister Betty Smith, two brothers, James Smith and Billy Smith, two adopted daughters, Kathy Wilbanks and Angel Jackson, eight great grandchildren and a daughter in law, Shelia Wilbanks.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Wilbanks was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Wilbanks, two sisters and one brother.
