Janie Ruth Rose Owens, age 65, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Janie was born November 16th, 1949 in Lawrenceburg. She was a graduate of Lawrence County High School and Belmont University then worked as a social worker for the State of Tennessee and a homemaker. She was a Christian of the Baptist faith and a member of OK Baptist Church. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed gardening and time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Warhurst Rose and J.D. Rose.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Owens of Lawrenceburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Amie Owens; one daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Michael McLain; grandchildren, Kate and Emily Owens and Ella and Andy McLain all of Lawrenceburg; and one brother, Gary Rose of Lawrenceburg.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, August 01, 2015 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at OK Baptist Church at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 02, 2015, with Bryan Camp officiating. Mrs. Owens will lie in state at the church from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at OK Cemetery in Lawrence County, TN. Family suggests memorials be made to OK Baptist Church Building Fund.
