Janice Ruth Briscoe Tidmore With overwhelming sadness and regret we announce the death of Janice Ruth Briscoe Tidmore at the age of 77. Janice passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Janice was our family matriarch. She was a lady with unwavering determination, love and support for our family and the community. Janice was born in Marshall County, Alabama on November 27, 1946, the day before Thanksgiving. She was the daughter of Grover Wilburn Briscoe and Willie Ruth Collins Briscoe. Janice was married to Larry Tidmore who passed away just a short seven months ago. Janice was a graduate of Arab High School. She was employed by and retired from the Eaton Corporation.

Janice, along with her husband Larry, was extremely supportive of and involved with family activities. They were often found at sporting events cheering on the young ones. Spending a month at the beach during the summer, traveling to the mountains and watching Alabama football were big parts of their life together.

Janice is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Tidmore; her parents, Grover and Willie Ruth Briscoe; her son, Tommy Jackson; and her niece, Marcie Briscoe Golden.

Family members left behind to cherish their memories include; son, Greg Tidmore (Sharon); daughters, Debbie Jackson and Melanie Lancaster (Tommy); grandchildren, Tia Turpen (Andrew), Mackenzie Fann (Alex), Clay Tidmore (Caroline), Hayley Bearden (Jake), Luke Tidmore (Olivia) and T.J Lancaster; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Briscoe (Ingrid) and John Elbert Briscoe (Susan); and a host of nieces and nephews.

In order to reminisce and honor Janice’s extraordinary life the family will welcome friends and guests at a visitation gathering on Thursday, October 17, 2024 between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, Alabama. The funeral service for Janice will follow the visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m. Brother Kenneth Smith will officiate. Pallbearers escorting Janice to her final resting place in Edgewood Cemetery will be Clayton Golden, Collin Golden, Mason Golden, Jason Briscoe, Tyler Barnes, Kamryn Barnes, John Edwin Collins, and Larry Collins.
