Mrs. Janice Louise HarrisMrs. Janice Louise Jumper Harris was born August 6, 1956, in Booneville, Mississippi to the late William C. (Jack) Jumper and Georgia Jumper and was the second eldest of six children: Brenda Thames, Dwight Jumper, Phyllis Southward, Jacqueline Jumper, and Monica Drew. Janice was preceded in death by her father, the late William Jumper and her husband, Gary E. Harris.

On Thursday, April 25, 2024, God called Janice from her earthly home to an everlasting comfort among her angels. While she will be missed, we take peace and comfort in knowing that we shall see her again someday.

On August 18, 1978, Gary E. Harris and Janice L. Jumper were united as one in holy matrimony and continued that union for 35 years until God called Gary home. To this union, a son, Brad E. Harris was born who enriched their lives as a family. The joy of this union has grown over the years to include a daughter-in-law, Hillary M. Harris, one grandson, Brennan E. Harris and one granddaughter, Bayleigh E. Harris.

Janice attended Northeast Mississippi Junior College where she studied business administration before departing with her husband to California where the Army had stationed him. She obtained several different jobs throughout the different duty locations until her husband, Gary, made Huntsville, AL their final destination. She supported the Department of Defense with COLSA Corporation as an Administrative Assistant before she retired to spend time with her precious grandbabies.

Janice accepted Christ at an early age joining Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Rienzi, Mississippi. She was an active member in the church and continued to be active in many churches throughout her moves with the military. Janice joined Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church once Huntsville became her final destination.

Janice would help anyone in the world that needed help. She was known for baking and giving to the homeless. From cookies, cakes, pies, you name it, she would bake it.  During the holidays, she would sponsor children to provide gifts for them.  She also would have a nickname for anyone she thought highly of.  She never met a stranger and wouldn’t harm a fly.
