Janice Lorene Isbell, age 76 of Winchester, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2022, at her residence. A native of Franklin County, she was born on August 23, 1946, in Winchester to the late Lemuel and Velma (Bohanon) Gass. Before her retirement, she was employed at the hat factor and Monterey Mills. Janice enjoyed making ceramics, working crossword puzzles, and going on car rides. She was a wonderful cook, particularly mastering all chocolate recipes such as Chocolate Three Musketeer cake and coconut cake. She will be remembered for her sweet nature, as she loved everyone and would do anything for you. In her younger years, Janice attended Cowan First Baptist Church and was currently a member of Warren Chapel of the Nazarene. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. “Joe” Isbell; son, Teddy Isbell; and brothers, Sam Gass, Jerry Gass, and Eddie Gass. Janice is survived by her sons, Terry (Lynn) Isbell of Winchester, and Tony Isbell of Winchester; grandchildren, Amanda “Mandy” Isbell, Samantha Davis, and Jodie Isbell; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Aden, Wylee, Gunner, and Sylas; sisters, Joyce Short of Cowan, and Vera Mitchell of Cowan; brother, Wayne (Sue) Gass of Cowan; several nieces and nephews; and her four-legged best friend, Titan. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 11, 2022, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Pastor Mike Tyree officiating. Interment will follow at Maxwell Cemetery.
