Born on August 18, 1952 in Jackson TN, she was the daughter of the late James Ruble and Elizabeth Nanney Azbill. Jan lived a life full of love, adventure, faith and a deep commitment to her family and friends. She retired from Jackson Madison County School System with over 30 years. Instead of retiring she became principal at Youth Town’s, George Thomas Jr. Academy, where she served with an abundance of love and grace to the education and ministry of the each kid and worker who came through the academy.
Jan attended Parkburg Baptist Church for her 72 years of life, where she stated many times that her church helped to mold her into the person she became and she loved her church. Jan followed in her Daddy’s footsteps serving as music director for many years. Over the last several years she was Sunday school teacher for her beloved Women of the Word.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband and best friend of 52 years, Bobby Coffman: daughters Jana Compton (Jason) and Allison Huntt (Chris): grandchildren James Logan Coffman (Sandy), CJ Huntt (Katie), Colton Huntt (Rachel), Tyler Wilbanks, Shannon Huntt, Brayden Wilbanks: and her great-grandchildren: Nova Coffman, Lynnlee Huntt, Christopher Huntt. Two sisters: Pat Ringold(Bobby) Brenda Wheatley(Bill). And her treasured horses; Tux, Sarge, Shadow, and Onyx.
Jan was a wonderful, loving person but most important a faithful Christian. She enjoyed all of God’s blessings and cherished each person He placed in her life.
There were many songs sung and Bible verses she learned and lived but one of her favorites was “Jesus said love one another” and SHE DID THAT WELL!!
