Janet Clingingsmith, age 83 of Owens Crossroads, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at her home with her family at her side. Janet was born on August 22, 1940, in Keokuk, Iowa to Robert Bell and Hazel Elwell Bell. She was a secretary for the State of Illinois until she retired. Janet was an avid animal lover that would always care for any animal that came her way.

Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Clingingsmith; parents, Robert, and Hazel Bell; brother, Robert Bell, Jr; sister, Louise Hickey. She is survived by her son, Douglas L. (Jennifer) Clingingsmith of Owens Crossroads; grandchildren, Kayla (James) Bonner, Whitney (Steven) Murray, Joshua Clingingsmith, and Jaxon Clingingsmith; great grandchildren, Richard and Wyatt Murray with an extra on the way; sister, Joyce Townsend of St. Paul, Minnesota; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will hold a celebration of life service on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the family’s home in Owens Crossroads.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to the ASPCA or local Animal Shelter of choice.
