Janet Ann Scott Scarbrough, age 70 of Middleburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024, at Baptist Medical Center Clay in Fleming Island, Florida after a brief illness. She was born on November 21, 1953, in Sewanee, Tennessee to the late John and Betty (Nash) Scott. Janet is a 1971 graduate of Franklin County High School, where she was a member of the Rebel Pride Marching Band during all four years of high school. Following high school she attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Janet began her career working for Sears in Winchester, Tennessee and later transferred to Sears in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After leaving Sears, she worked as a purchasing agent for Stainless Metal Products in Chattanooga before moving to Middleburg, Florida. Following her move to Florida, she began working for Pat Salmon Trucking as a payroll clerk. Janet was currently working as a sales consultant for Merle Norman Cosmetics in Jacksonville, Florida. Janet enjoyed taking vacations to different places via cruise ships, attending concerts to see her favorite artists and listening to their music, and watching various tv shows. She was an avid collector of Lucille Ball memorabilia which included items from the tv show I Love Lucy. Janet treasured the time spent with her daughter and grandchildren, whether it was to dance recitals or going shopping. Janet previously attended Winchester First Baptist Church in Winchester. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ben and Mildred Nash and paternal grandparents, Clyde and Lacey Scott. Janet is survived by her loving husband, Larry Scarbrough of Florida; daughter, Laura (Javier) Perez of Florida; step-sons, Troy Scarbrough and Tom (Brooke) Scarbrough both of Florida; grandchildren, Lydia, Addison, Macy, John, Camden and Carli; brother, Ben (Kathy) Scott of Tennessee; aunt, Anna Shikoh; niece, Leah (Kyle) Fly; nephews, Andrew Scott, Aiden Fly, Jackson Fly; and numerous cousins and friends. Private services for Janet were held in Middleburg, Florida.
