Jane Witt Forrest, 92, died at home in Beverly Hills, MI, on March 27, 2016.
Born in Aliceville, AL, the daughter of Mary Dora Abernathy and Carter Harrison Witt, she moved with her family to Pulaski, TN, and graduated from Giles County High School. She attended Martin College, and was a 1944 graduate of the University of Tennessee. After working in Knoxville, she moved to Washington, DC in 1946 to join the staff of Congressman Joe Evans of Smithville, TN.
There she met and married her late husband Henry S. Forrest, and lived for many years in Bethesda, MD. She and her husband also had homes in Bethany Beach, DE, and Key West, FL. She relocated to Michigan to be near her family in her later years.
Survivors include her brother, Carter H. Witt of Lynnville, TN, three children; Robert E. Forrest(Deirdre) of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Betty F. Robinson(Tom) of Baltimore, MD, Jean F. Hellekjaer(Peter) of Beverly Hills, MI, and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Lynnwood Cemetery at 11 AM on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Memorial donations are suggested to the John Laird Cemetery Association, c/o Barbara Russell, 1283 Main Street, Lynnville, TN 38472. Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home of Pulaski in charge of local arrangements.
