Jane Sarah Hopper, 80, resident of Fayette County, TN and native of the Tiplersville Community with relatives in the Tippah County area, passed away Wednesday January 31, 2018 at the National Health Care Center in Somerville, TN following an extended illness.
Funeral Services honoring the life of Ms. Hopper will be at 2 PM Friday February 2 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with her brother in law, Joe Sistare of Bartlett, TN officiating. Burial will follow in the Tiplersville Cemetery in Tippah County.
Born June 9, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Guy Mitchell and Vera Curle Hopper. Ms. Hopper was a graduate of Walnut High School and at an early age moved to Memphis where she lived a number of years before moving to the Rossville and Moscow, TN areas. A devoted homemaker throughout her life , Ms. Hopper served as a telephone operator for AT&T before being employed by Security Signals where she retired.
A Christian and a Baptist, Ms. Hopper was a self taught accomplished pianist who shared her talents with many area churches that did not have a church musician. She considered this a ministry and developed many friendships throughout the Mississippi and Tennessee areas. Ms. Hopper was well known for her baking with cakes being her specialty.
Visitation for Ms. Hopper will be from 1 PM to 2 PM Friday at The Ripley Funeral Home.
Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Diana Wilson of Olive Branch, two sisters, Hazel Sistare (Joe) of Bartlett and her twin, June Brown of Somerville ,TN, three grandchildren, Caitlyn Wilson, Harley and Christian Houston and two nieces, Sonia Thomas and Cretia Heflin.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Mike Houston, one sister, Vernell Wicker and a brother, Nathan Hopper.
