A Funeral Service for Jane Knight McVey, age 91 of Ashland, will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Rev. Bruce Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland City Cemetery.
Mrs. McVey passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Clay County Nursing Home. She was born in Clay County and worked at Higgins for many years. Jane enjoyed baking, canning and reading and could often be found on the front porch swinging especially with the grandchildren or great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McVey is survived by her son, Charles Kenneth McVey and Brenda of Woodstock, AL; granddaughter, Amanda Scurlock and James of West Blocton, AL; three great-grandchildren, Landyn, Maddie and Waylon Scurlock; a host of nieces and nephews from the McVey, Lovelady, Knight, Brown and Foster families.
She is preceded in death by her parents, JC and Lillie Bell Knight; her husband, Charles “Charlie” McVey; grandson, Andrew Charles McVey; sisters, Frances Foster, Ruth Brown, and Betty Jean Lovelady; brothers, Robert Knight, Sr. and Fred Knight.
Pallbearers will be, James Scurlock, Landyn Scurlock, Waylon Scurlock, Maddie Scurlock, Mack Lovelady, Eddie Kornegay, Tim Gilbert and Jerritt Sherron.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland.
