Jane Comer Mills Philpot, age 96, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at her home in Lawrenceburg, TN
A lifelong Lawrence County native, Jane was born on March 19, 1927, to the late Robert Daniel Mills II and Elizabeth Comer Mills. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clifton Hogan Philpot, Jr. and her brother, Robert Daniel Mills, III.
Survivors include her son, Cliff Philpot, III (Beverly) of Lawrenceburg; daughter, Jane Philpot Thompson of Florence, AL; four grandchildren, Margaret “Maggie” Elizabeth Philpot, Catherine “Laine” Elaine Philpot, both of Nashville, TN; Star King (Bronson), Ann Paley, both of Lawrenceburg; two great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for all the care provided to “Miss Jane.” A special thanks to Tine Prentice, Miss Jane’s caregiver for 5 years and Tara Morrison who was with Jane for 2 years. Both showed so much love, caring, and kindness. A thank you also to Stephanie Phillips and Teri Flannery and to all of the caregivers throughout the years.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 30, 2023. Interment will follow at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN. The family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, 212 Waterloo Street, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464.
