Jamie Baggett Witcher, 81, departed this world after a brief illness for her eternal home on Friday, Feb. 10, 2023 from her residence in Clinton, Tn. Jamie was born in Memphis, Tn. on May 8, 1941 to the late James Lamar Baggett, Sr. and Maggie Bell Barksdale. A delightful lady with a warm, inviting personality, Jamie grew up in Memphis and moved to Northeast Miss. as a young adult. She moved to Clinton, Tn. 14 years ago to be near her children after the death of her husband, Harvey Witcher. Mrs. Witcher was a loyal and beloved employee of the North Miss. Medical Center Pharmacy for over 20 years. A faithful Christian lady, she loved the Lord, enjoyed crocheting and giving away to family and friends kitchen towels. She enjoyed the outdoors watching things grow including flowers and vegetables. But her real love was watching her family grow and do well. She was a doting mother and grandmother whose life was defined by the wellbeing of her family. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church Clinton, TN. Her family will long remember her as a faithful wife, mother, grandmother who life was lived in service to God, family and others.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 12 PM (Noon) Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023 at White Zion Presbyterian Church with her son in law, Rev. Darryl Taylor and her grandson-in-law, Rev. Ethan Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be form 11 AM-service time Saturday only at the Church. Jamie is survived by her children, Douglas H. Laney (Brenda) of Oxford, MS, Linda L. Taylor (Darryl) of Clinton,TN and Ada Suzanne Laney of Dyersburg, TN; her grandchildren, Taylor Hanson-Laney(Allison) of Bartlett, TN, Charla Laney Prewitt (Kyle) of Tupelo, MS, Jacob Laney of Tupelo, MS, Ema Taylor Johnson (Ethan) of Tazewell, VA, Sara Taylor of Tazewell, VA, David Taylor, Jonathan Taylor and Joel Taylor all of Clinton, TN; her sisters affectionately called sorority sisters, Anne Bright of Albertville, AL, Betty Keck of Tacoma, WA, Thomasine Daniels of Meridian, MS, Jonnie Smith of Colorado Springs, CO and Elaine Baggett of Ocean Springs, MS; the father of her children, Buddy Laney of Oxford, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents James Lamar Baggett, Sr. and Maggie Bell Barksdale Baggett; her husband, Harvey Witcher; her son, Charles Thomas “Chuck” Laney; her brother, James Lamar Baggett, Jr., and her granddaughter, Naomi Faith Taylor.
Pallbearers are Darryl, David and Jonathan Taylor, Ethan Johnson, Jacob Laney, Jonah London. Honorary Pallbearers are William Bishop, Joel Taylor, Josh London and past and present co workers at the NMMC Pharmacy.
