On November 5, 2021, the Bramlett family lost its hero. James Wray Bramlett was born June 19, 1942, in Morgan County Alabama to Ernest and Marie Bramlett. He married the love of his life and sweetheart, Hazel Marks, on July 8, 1966. Before retiring in 1999, he was Chief Financial Officer of Huntsville Hospital where he served for 32 years. He was responsible for much of the growth of HH during the 80’s and 90’s in what is now Huntsville Hospital System. All three of his children worked(ed) at HH which made him very proud.

Dad was considered an Elvis “look-alike” when he was younger. He loved music—especially gospel. When his sons were younger, he spent countless hours coaching them baseball and basketball. He held many titles through the years—son, husband, CFO, coach—but none more important than Dad and Papa. Oh, how he loved his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hazel Marks Bramlett; daughter, Kimberly (Bruce) Crawley; son Brett Bramlett; grandchildren, Morgan Whitt (Todd), Hunter Bramlett (Taylor), Ember Hill (Chad), Cole Crawley, Kolton Bramlett, Landon Bramlett (Randi), Bayleigh Bramlett, Kameron Ferguson (Dylan), Kristopher Bramlett, Grace Crawley, Jeb Bramlett and Giana Bramlett; eight great grandchildren; sister, Sandra Sims and brother, Keith Bramlett. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, James Durrell Bramlett; parents, Ernest and Marie Bramlett and brother, Jackie Vaughn Bramlett. Funeral services will be held at his beloved church—Valhermoso Springs First Christian Church at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at First Christian Cemetery. Peck funeral home will be directing. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
