James “Wimp” Winford Ellis – Obituary

James “Wimp” Winford Ellis, age 87, of Rogersville, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2012. Visitation will be at Elkins East Chapel Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, lying in state from 1-2 p.m. Brother Wendell White and great-grandson Phillip Collier will be officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery with pallbearers being family and friends.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Christine; a grandson, Scottie Herston; and a brother Bill.

He is survived by one son, Jimmy Ellis (Glendora); two daughters, Ann Holden (Rick) and Brenda White (Michael); three sisters, Tiny Mae, Lorene and Pearl; one brother, Alton; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Ellis was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a deacon.
