James W. "Toady" Boyd Profile Photo  James William “Toady” Boyd, 89, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at NMMC-Gilmore in Amory.  Toady was born in Monroe County on January 10, 1934 to the late Durwood and Virgie Lou West Boyd.  He was a life long resident of the Quincy Community and married the former Martha Faye Plunkett.  Toady was a longtime timber cutter and loved being in the woods logging.  He was no stranger to hard work and he enjoyed the job he did.  To say Toady was a character would be an understatement.  To all those who knew him, knew that he was a cut up and a happy and friendly person who never met a stranger.  If you were meeting him for the first time ever, he would make you feel like you had known him your entire life.  Toady loved every second of his long life and most definitely lived life to the fullest.  He enjoyed dancing, listening to Charles Johnson and the Revivers and being around people, especially his family.  He also had a great love for those long LTD cars and was probably the only logger around to carry his saws and equipment in the trunk of a car.

He is survived by his daughters, Jena Pickle (Timmy), Amory and Tina Hulett, Tupelo; son, Joey Boyd, Quincy; grandchildren, Tanya Burks, Jennifer Elam Hendi (Tamer), Kerry Sintakakis (Joe), Ashley Markham Carter (Dustin), Stefanie Hulett, Steven Hulett, Robert Hulett, Danielle Hill and Tiffanie Nantz (Blake); 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; special extended family, Crystalyn Leech (Jon), Tori Cook (Murff) and Hunter Leech (Amber).

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by 2 daughters, Toni Kay Boyd and Debbie Boyd Markham; son, Jeffrey “Fred” Boyd; an infant sister.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Danny Burks and Bro. Chuck Moffett officiating.  Burial will follow in Durrett Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Mike Boyd, Ben Boyd, Lynn Crump, Ronnie Crump, Lee Crump and Neal Roberts.  Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Colburn, Randy Colburn and Hunter Colburn.

Visitation will be Sunday evening, April 30 at the funeral home from 5-8 PM and will continue until service time at 2 PM on Monday.
