James William Smith, age 72, of Russellville, passed away on Sunday, February 07, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Union Hill Congregational Methodist Church. He was a member of the Phil Campbell Rescue Squad and a charter member of the East Franklin Fire Department. He was well known as a community leader, a loving husband, and a wonderful dad and grandfather, and a friend to all.
The visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 09, 2016 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery with fireman honors.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 53-1/2 years, Reba Seay Smith; sons, Kerry Smith (wife, Susan), Michael Smith, Eric Smith; grandchildren, Carrie Ann Smith, Andrew Smith, Matthew Smith; great-grandchild, Carmen Smith Sanders; brothers, Horace Smith (wife, Linda), Joseph “Junior” Smith; sisters-in-law, Mavis Turner (husband, William), Faye Swinney (husband, Sammy), Kay Chance (husband, Hubert); and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Hubert Smith & Lettora Bryant Smith.
