James William Howard – Obituary

James William Howard, 90, of Muscle Shoals died Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Cottage of the Shoals.

Visitation will be Friday, October 26, 2018, 11 AM to 1 PM at Elkins East Chapel.  Funeral services will follow at 1 PM in the chapel with Gary Dan Williams officiating.  Burial will be at Bluewater Cemetery.

Mr. Howard was born April 7, 1928 to Guston and Willie Morrison Howard.

He was employed by RC Cola at a very young age starting as a route driver and later became Sales Manager.  After retirement he was License Inspector for Colbert County for many years and was a member of the Muscle Shoals Lions Club and the Parks and Recreation Board.  He was an avid Alabama football fan.

Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Tate Howard; sisters, Oreine Ritter and Exelene Winters.

Mr. Howard is survived by his loving daughters, Patricia Gean (Larry) and Donna Stansell (James); grandchildren, Amy Lovelady (Norman) and Todd Gean (Cindy); great-grandchildren, Austin Gean, Caleb Lovelady, Carter Lovelady, Ashton Gean, Easton Gean, and Landon Gean; nieces, Barbara Ingram (Bobby), Billie Barfield, and Betty Bouknight (LeRoy); nephew, Rickey Ritter (Pam).

The family would like to thank Cottage of the Shoals for their love and care during his time there.

Pallbearers will be Todd Gean, Austin Gean, Caleb Lovelady, Carter Lovelady, Norman Lovelady and Rickey Ritter.  Honorary pallbearer will be L. H. “Chick” Ritter, special brother-in-law.
