James Wendell Miller, age 76 of Haleyville, entered into rest on June 12, 2019 at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, surrounded by his loving family.
Wendell was born February 18, 1943 to Columbus and Lily Miller. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a long-time member of Old Macedonia Baptist Church. He loved his family and enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, word search puzzles, and watching TV.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 16, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where the service will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery. Brother Alvis Treece and Sister Tina Treece will officiate.
Wendell is survived by his loving wife of eleven years, Frances Miller; son, Darrel (Callie) Miller; daughter, Ramonia (Jimmy) Hood; step-sons, Brandon Ward, Heath (Miranda) Ward, and Rexel (Donna) Ward; step-daughter, Christy (Chris) McGee; brother, Eugene Miller; Josephine Flannigan; nine grandchildren, Ashley (Leo) Cienfurgos, Sam (Alfonso) Perez, Candice Richardson, Allen Hood, Ryan Miller, Brittany Miller, Brandy Miller, Nona (Cody) Colburn, and Cody (Rebecca) Miller; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson; parents; four brothers; and one sister.
