James Warren Null Profile PhotoJames Warren (Cotton) Null was born May 2, 1944 in Guys, TN the son of the late Charlie and Ludie Bright Null.

He was united in marriage to Vina Sue Leatherwood on May 18, 1973. Mrs. Null preceded him in death on August 7, 2021, following 48 years of marriage.

Cotton served his country as a Radio and Teletype operator in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967, attaining the rank of Sergeant Technician Grade 5 and accumulating 9 months of foreign service while stationed in Turkey.  Following his honorable discharge from the Army Cotton was employed as a rail car repair specialist for CSX Rail, retiring in 2004 with 37 years of service.  He enjoyed woodworking, making outdoor furniture, and using his carpentry skills to build porches and staircases, but his favorite activity was spending time with his family and friends.  Every July 4th he and his wife Sue would organize a picnic at their home.  The yard would fill with family, neighbors, friends, and co-workers who would spend all day celebrating.  Cotton was a member of the Guys Volunteer Fire Department and attended the Antioch church of Christ in Ramer with his wife Sue when they were able.

Cotton departed this life on April 13, 2023 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 78 Years, 11 Months, 11 Days.  He is survived by a son, Nicky Null and wife Beth of Guys, TN; two grandchildren, Brad Prather and wife Brittni of Selmer, TN and Barry Prather and wife Krystina of Guys, TN; three great-grandchildren: Adyson Prather, Timothy Prather, and Ryder Prather; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Cotton was preceded in death by two sisters, Maybell Leatherwood and Laverne McClain, and three brothers: Harold Null, Charles Null, and Samuel Null.
