Funeral services for James Vester Rutherford are set for Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 2pm at Tuscumbia Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 5pm-8pm and Sunday, December 15, 2024 from 12pm-2pm at Tuscumbia Baptist Church. Bro. Brantson Vuncannon and Bro. Alan Parker will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Logan Smith, Bradley Jackson, Mitch Rickman, Eric Parker, Michael Parker, Dustin Gifford and Daryl Thrasher. Born January 13, 1944 in Corinth, MS, James passed from this life on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at his home. He was a retired mechanic at the Alcorn County Bus garage. James was of the Baptist faith and a member of Tuscumbia Baptist Church. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite pastimes were going to church, watching NASCAR, working on cars and watching westerns. James is survived by his son, Jaime Rutherford (Heide); daughter, Crystal Ford (James); stepdaughter, Kathy Pace (Frankie); 6 grandchildren, Caitlyn Ford, Megan Jackson (Bradley), Julie Smith (Logan), Abby Rutherford, Izzy Rutherford, Eli Rutherford; step grandchild, Justin Pace; 6 great grandchildren, Hadley Ford, Bruin Jackson, Kendall Smith, Ridge Jackson, Avery Smith and Emmitt Smith; step great grandchild, Chael Pace; brother, L.C. Rutherford; sister, Ray Pittman; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Dixon Rutherford; great grandchildren, Peyton Smith, Millianna Smith and Mallie Jackson; father, Robert Rutherford; mother, Zona Moss Rutherford; brothers, Olen Rutherford, Bobby Rutherford and Johnny Rutherford; sisters, Nona Mullins, Faye Dixon and Nina McCalister and his first wife and mother of his children, Irene Wilbanks Rutherford.
