Major (Ret.) James Truitt Howell, 91, of Huntsville, passed away June 1st. He served actively in the U.S. Air Force and the Air Force Reserves from 1939-1981, and was a retired corporate pilot. He was preceded in death by his wife, Allene Oliver Howell.
Survivors include sons, James O. Howell of Huntsville and Teddy Van Howell of Virginia; daughter, Marlene H. Brown of Huntsville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brothers, David Howell, Clark Howell and Jerry Howell, all of South Carolina.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 at First Christian Church with Dr. Guy McCombs officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wasp Museum in Sweetwater, Texas,(waspmuseum.org) or the Huntsville Track Club Scholarship Fund.
