James Timothy Coker, age 61 of Winchester, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on August 18, 1961. He had worked until retiring in 2021 at Batesville. In his spare time, James enjoyed working on old cars and trucks, grilling and cooking bar-b-que, and doing carpentry work, He also enjoyed traveling, especially to the Smoky Mountains (where he loved to eat at the Chop House), Savannah, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina, but equally enjoyed spending “lazy days” at home. His funny sense of humor and caring personality will be missed, and James will be remembered for always putting his family first. He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Coker; brother, Teddy Wayne Coker; son, Michael Champion; and father-in-law, Terry Massie. James is survived by his loving wife of thirty-one years, Lynda Coker of Winchester; daughters, Amy Coker (James Sease) of Cowan, and Sarah (Kenneth) Hall of Decherd; grandchildren, Katelin Reed, Jacob Ferrell, and Maddie Coker; mother, Brenda Coker; brother, Tony Coker; nephew who was like a son, Nathan (Amanda) Coker; nephews, Anthony Coker and Kaleb Coker; great-niece who was like a granddaughter, Kallie Coker; uncle, Victor Suddarth; mother-in-law, Sharon Massie; four sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and several cousins. Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm on Friday, April 21, 2023, in the Life Celebration Center at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
