  James Thomas Vinson Profile PhotoJames Thomas Vinson, known affectionately as Jimmy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the Alive Hospice House in Nashville, TN.

He was born on September 10, 1949, in Mercer, TN, the son of the late James Wilson and Roberta Lewis Vinson.

Jimmy dedicated over twenty years of his career to Perseus Distribution, where he served as a committed and respected supervisor before embracing retirement. His work ethic and leadership were truly commendable.

A proud veteran, Jimmy also honorably served in the United States Navy. His dedication to his country was a testament to his strong character and sense of duty.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jimmy will fondly be remembered for his love of the outdoors. Whether he was hunting or fishing, nature was where he found solace and peace. He took great pride in maintaining a meticulously groomed yard, ensuring it was always immaculate in appearance.

Described as humble and easy-going by those who knew him best, Jimmy’s kindness knew no bounds. Putting others before himself was second nature to him, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.

Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife, Rita Vinson of Jackson, TN; loving daughter, Melissa Davidson and her husband Jonathan of Jackson, TN; caring son, Jeremy Vinson and his wife Amy of Jackson, TN; cherished grandchildren, Hannah Mitchell, Claire Vinson, and Preston Vinson.

The memories created with Jimmy will forever be treasured by all who knew him. His legacy of selflessness and love will continue to inspire generations to come.

A funeral service to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Rev. Mickey Jackson of Oakfield Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens with military honors.

The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and continuing until 7:00 p.m. at Arrington Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers serving will be Ashley Robertson, Junior Bridges, Randy Birmingham, Sam Jackson, Shane Davidson and Jonathan Davidson.

In honoring Jimmy’s memory, let us carry forward his spirit of generosity and compassion towards one another.
