James Thomas “Toby” Allen Jr., 58, of Decatur, passed away on July 28, 2014, in Huntsville Hospital. He was born on September 27, 1955. He attended Austin High School until 1973 and was on the Austin basketball team and then moved to Tennessee. He was a devoted husband and father and an avid Alabama fan. He worked in the car business for many years at many of the car dealerships in the Decatur area.
Funeral services will be held at Flint Church of Christ on Thursday, July 31, 2014. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 2 p.m. and funeral will be at 3 p.m. with Chris Pressnell and Nikki Pressnell officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Debbie Allen; a son, Scott Allen and daughter, Nicole Allen; mother, Betty Faye Allen; brother, Ricky Allen and his wife, Diane, all of Decatur. There is also a host of family members and friends.
Mr. Allen’s family would like to thank everyone for their many kindnesses and a special thanks to Dr. Smith and the nurses in the MICU at Huntsville Hospital.
Pallbearers will be Ottie Newsom, Danny Thomas, James Satterfield, Zackary Smith, Jon Compton and Lyle Green.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Thomas Allen Jr.; sister, Mitzi Woodward and brother, William Allen.
