James Thomas Tidwell, age 90 of Haleyville, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025 at Lakeland Community Hospital. He was born April 19, 1934 to Chester and Mable Tidwell. James was a hard worker, enjoyed gardening and tending his cattle. Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where the service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at Littleville Cemetery in Haleyville. Brother Jeff Boyles will officiate. James is survived by his children, Judy and Tim Tidwell; stepchildren, Iris (Kenny) Roberts and Gary (Yvonne) McCreless; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Perry, Lance, Dennis, Fay, Elaine, and Susie; step daughter in law, Lessie McCreless; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Tidwell; parents, Chester and Mable Tidwell; stepson, Roger McCreless; brothers, Harold and Jerry Tidwell; and sister, Martha Ann Berry.
