Mr. James Thomas Hickman, age 51, of Columbia, but formerly born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
James was born on June 23, 1963 to Raymond Wilson Hickman, Sr. and Alice Sweeney Hickman in Columbia, Tennessee. He was married to Mary Horton Hickman, who passed away on November 6, 2004. He was a mechanic by trade, having worked at Hickman’s Auto Repair. His family says that if anything had a motor, he could fix it. He also loved fishing, riding horses and hunting. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Hickman is survived by his son: Ben (Hannah) McCall; grandson: Raylan McCall; mother: Alice Sweeney Hickman; siblings: Dorothy (Ray) Staggs, Ruby (Eddie) McKennon and Paul Hickman; special friends: Earl Johnson and Michael Pope; several nieces, nephews and cousins; aunts: Barbara Bell and Maude Lee Cates; and uncle: Alvin Sweeney. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Horton Hickman; father: Raymond Wilson Hickman, Sr.; and brother: Raymond Hickman, Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Hickman will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. William Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eddie McKennon, Bubba McKennon, Brad Pugh, Dylan Pugh, Donald Collins, Jeffrey Collins and Kenny Brown will serve as pallbearers.
