James Thomas Green, known as “Tommy” to his loved ones, passed away early morning on Monday April 1st, 2024, at Jackson – Madison County General Hospital. He was born on January 19th, 1938, in Nashville, TN.
Tommy led a fulfilling life as an Optician for Lifetime Eyecare and proudly served in the National Guard. His lively personality shone through as he was described as fun-loving, energetic, and athletic. In his free time, Tommy enjoyed playing golf at Humboldt Country Club, where he was a 30-year member, playing softball, cheering for the Atlanta Braves and The University of Tennessee Volunteers, and keeping up with the latest news on Fox News.
One of Tommy’s proudest accomplishments was his family. He cherished his wife, Donna Green; his children, Danny Green (Dawn), Ben Green, Leah Collins (Patrick), Jamie Green (Laura), and Angela McCrady (Tommy); brothers, Gary Green (Susan), Michael Green (Chris); sisters, Jewell Laster (Jerry) and Cherri Johnson; grandchildren, Casey Lindsey, Coby Green, Lexie Green, Ethan Collins, Aiden McCrady, Caroline Green, and Annalynn McCrady; along with three great-grandchildren.
Tommy was predeceased by his parents Jimmy and Nell Green, his wife Donna and a dear sister Vickie Donald.
Among the many memories cherished by his family is how Tommy could beat both of his boys at golf—a testament to his competitive spirit and skill on the course.
Services to honor and celebrate Tommy’s life will be held on Thursday, April 4th, 2024. The visitation will take place from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM followed by the Funeral Service at Arrington Funeral Directors and Crematory located at 148 W University Parkway in Jackson.
Tommy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing he brought joy and love to all those around him.
