James Terrell Hatton, age 80, of Russellville, Alabama, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024 at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama, surrounded by his loving family.
Terrell was born on April 14, 1944 in Russellville, Alabama to William Virgil and Minnie Bell Hatton. He worked for Reynolds Metal/Wise Alloys for 37 years, where he retired in 2001. Terrell was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher, the treasurer, and was on the cemetery committee. He created and produced the Dial-a-Deal Radio program along with the Golden Gospel Radio Program. Terrell was also a member of Russellville Masonic Lodge #371 for 53 years.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home in Russellville, Alabama. Services will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Russellville, Alabama. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Brother Jeff Fleming will officiate. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Marco Hatton, Nathan Lindsey, Nick Lindsey, Payden Cox, Blake Simmons, Caleb Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Hatton, Jim Hatton, David Hatton and Rodney Varden.
Terrell is survived by his wife of 31 years, Donnia Kay Hill Hatton; son, Mark Timothy (Laura) Hatton; daughter, Kimberly Michelle Hatton (Tracy) Whitlock; stepsons, Denny (Wendy) Cox, David (Kelli) Cox, Daniel (Ashley) Cox, and Derrick Cox; grandchildren, Alie, Payden, Marco, Sydney, Nathan, Nick, Caleb, Annesley, Aubree, Sofie, and Emma Kay; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Attalise, and Freya; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Christine Vaden; father, William Virgil Hatton; mother, Minnie Bell Zills Hatton; brother, William Jearld Hatton; infant sister, Reba Pearl Hatton; and infant brother, Lacey Earl Hatton.
