Mr. James Stevon " Steve" Taylor James Stevon Taylor, age 76, of Arab passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024. Steve was born on August 30, 1947 to Nadine and Alvin Taylor of West Point, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Nadine (Tucker) and Alvin Taylor and brother, Ricky Taylor. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rhonda (Whisenant) Taylor, son, Brian Taylor of Atlanta, daughter and son-in-law, Danielle (Taylor) and Warren Steber of Owens Cross Roads, siblings, Jan Kent and David Taylor of Cullman, and Mahalla Ertl of Morgan City, and grandchildren, Landon Ertl and Norah Steber and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Steve was the first of his family to obtain a college degree, and went on to earn a Master’s in Business Administration, became a Certified Public Accountant, and led a successful career as a chief officer in Government Contracting. No matter how important his job was or the degrees he acquired, he could forge a conversation with anyone through his jovial demeanor and personality. He loved being outdoors, traveling and trail-riding, and was an avid “piddler” – always out at the barn, in the pasture, or taking care of the horses. After retirement, he and Rhonda traveled the US, trail-riding and camping with friends and family. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan, and never missed a school or sporting event, traveling all over to support them. He was a caretaker at heart, loved to make people laugh, gave the best advice, and was the first to help in any situation. Always ready with a joke, Steve was universally liked, successful as a person, and will be missed by so many.

Services will be held on Wednesday, July 17th at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, with visitation for friends and family beginning at 12 noon, and funeral to follow at 2pm. Officiating services will be Randy Blakely, Brad Hawkins, and Kirk Smith. Pallbearers escorting Steve to his final resting place at Mt. Olive Cemetery will be Jody Whisenant, Chris Ertl, Ty Whisenant, Landon Ertl, Troy Whisenant and Buddy Sweat.
Arrangement entrusted to Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
